Plant Power Products BV specializes in the agricultural and horticultural applications of chitosan hydrochloride and markets these under the brand name Hamerol.

As more and more (chemical) crop protection products lose their European—and therefore Dutch—authorization, growers are noticing that fewer alternatives are available. Chitosan hydrochloride can be a valuable addition to, and in some cases a replacement for, conventional crop protection agents.

Plant Power Products BV has specialised in the possibilities of using chitosan hydrochlorid for agriculture and horticulture and brings this under the name Hamerol on the market.

As the European and therefore Dutch authorization of more and more (chemical) crop protection products expires, the grower will notice that there are fewer and fewer alternatives available. Chitosan hydrochloride can be a useful addition and in some cases a replacement for regular crop protection products.

Our mission

Plant Power Products aims to contribute to the growing body of knowledge around chitosan and its derivatives through practical research and advisory services, in order to combat and prevent plant diseases and infestations in a natural way.

The goal is to make our chitosan-based products an integral part of an integrated pest management (IPM) system. With this biological solution, growers can achieve healthier crops at lower costs and with a reduced environmental impact.

Our vision

Social developments are putting increasing pressure on the agricultural sector to reduce the use of chemical crop protection agents. As a result, more chemical products are being withdrawn from EU authorization, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to register new chemical crop protection products. The grower’s toolbox is becoming emptier, making it an ever-greater challenge to protect crops from diseases and pests.

Plant Power Products aims to demonstrate the added value of chitosan for the agricultural sector through field research and the development of new products based on this biopolymer. This should help fill the gaps in spray programs that arise due to the loss of chemical agents, with Hamerol as a sustainable alternative.
